« on: 12-06-11 »

WELCOME !!

This Forum is a community, intended to provide an enjoyable, fun and informative medium to Car enthusiasts and Owners. It is intended to give a platform to Car owners and aspirants alike to ask, share and collaborate thus helping the other get some insight. It is therefore important that you, as a member, take care to observe the following rules to maintain harmony in this community.

1. Unlike others we are an informal forum. Language used in Chat/SMS is permitted on our forum. Just make sure you are understood though  :o

2. When writing, stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on the individual. Whilst humor is welcome, decency in communication is expected. Abusive words/ inappropriate photos and videos/bad language in posts/avatars/signatures/topics are STRICTLY prohibited.

3. Ensure that you include permissions / references with regard to original sources of information / material / images etc taken from some other site in your posts.

4. Please donot SPAM and write irrelevant posts. We once again reiterate, marketing on the forum is strictly prohibited. We also donot permit members to to make any commercial offers , via the Private Messaging (PM) or email facility. Violation of this rule will get your account deleted. Those wishing to make commercial offers are welcome to use other functionalities / sections of the Carbiz website to sell their services/products.  >:(

5. Spamming is a very serious offence on our Forum. This includes one-liners and replies which have no relevance or contribute nothing to the Forum. Doing so is the fastest way to get your account deleted.  >:(

6. As mentioned earlier, discuss the issue not the person. Personal attacks on any member will not be permitted. This includes any direct / indirect attempt at trolling. All the members are part of the community and any derogatory comments are not acceptable.

7. Any photos/images/videos within a thread that you wish to post/embed may be uploaded on free photo/video sharing sites such as you-Tube, Photobucket, Picasa etc and the appropriate bbcode used to call for the same within the thread. These like threads are moderated and members are wholly responsible for content they upload and are expected to remain decent when posting photos/videos.

8. We have tried to organize the Board to help you members find what they are looking for. We highly recommend that New members use the "SEARCH" feature before posting on topics. This way they will benefit from what has already been discussed before and will avoid repetitions.

9. When starting a thread, take care to write the "Title" of the threads accurately so as to represent the subject matter accurately. This will facilitate participation.

10. We are a forum that discusses Cars and issues relating thereto as they impact present and future car owners. We do not wish to not permit our members to discuss sensitive issues involving Religion, Politics, Extra Terrestrials, The Ku Klux Klan  etc over here. These issues are highly subjective in nature and can lead to volatile, endless and inconclusive debates.  8)

11. We take decisions with a fraternity-centric attitude. Public threads/discussions that do not relate to the discussion topic are not permitted. Should any member wish to bring something to our attention, please write in to us at contactus@carbiz.in

POSTING ETIQUETTE

Please take some time to go through the following points on posting etiquette within Carbiz Forum

12) Avoid slang and arcane acronyms.

13) Use proper punctuation/grammar. Not only does it make you look good but its also helps, that the next person understands what you are trying to say.

14) Capitalize the first letter when you start a new sentence. Another point, do not type in all capital letters as this is the online equivalent to shouting and is definitely considered rude.

15) Avoid back-to-back posts in the same thread - where you share your thoughts in instalments. Please use the "Edit" button to add/change content to your earlier post, instead of making another post in that same thread.

16) If our software automatically changes the word you typed to  ****, that's a good indication the word is not permitted on this Forum. Please find a more eloquent way to get your point across.

17) Don't make your posts/quotes too long.

- Avoid quoting when you are posting a general reply to a recent post.
- Quote only a part of a post when you want to highlight a specific point you are replying to.
- Edit the text within the quote to display only the specific part you are replying to (and not the entire previous post).
- Type your reply below the quoted text.
- Quote only a select part of the post preceded and followed by a "..." to signify an intentional omission of content.

18) What you type remains visible forever
- Think of writing on the forum as publishing an article in a magazine. It will remain visible for everyone to see for times to come.
- Ensure what you write is of value and the content is not something you may regret or wish to change in the future
- What you post is a property of the Forum and we will not be entertain requests to change/delete any posts, unless they are in violation of our rules.

19) Do unto others what you wish them to do to you - so be polite! Please avoid making statements or broad brushstroke / sweeping generalizations that could offend other members. There is always a polite way to get your point across.

Violation of the above mentioned Rules can lead to a warning, a deletion of the concerned post or deletion of the Members account. Repeat offences will certainly lead to the Member being permanently banned from the Carbiz Forum. We at Carbiz, work hard to maintain the quality of discussions within this community and request your suuport to make our task easier.

STARTING A NEW DISCUSSION

The following is to give you a general idea and guide you to starting a New discussion or creating a new thread (forum parlance) on our Forum.

First and foremost - You do not want to reinvent the wheel !! You do not want to start a discussion on something that has already been discussed in detail or is being discussed. Not that you cant, but you are likely to get a much poorer response from others and its so much better and more practical to go to that thread (or discussion), read through what has been said and add what you wish to say or ask what you want answered. So please perform a thorough SEARCH with keywords relevant to your topic/question. Start a New discussion, if you cannot find a thread on the same topic elsewhere in the Forum.

1. The Forum has been broken down into various categories (Please see the Home page). The Categories represent broad areas and within each are various topics of discussion relating to these Categories. Choose the appropriate Forum category (from the Forum home page) and within that the Topic that already exist. For Example: If you are looking to Buy a Used Car and want to find out how to go about getting a good deal...the Correct Forum category is "Buying and Selling Used Cars"

2. Once you are in the desired Forum Category, look at the existing Topics within that Category. click to choose the appropriate Topic. Once you have selected the Topic, you will find various ongoing discussion within the same. Assuming your "Search" has returned no hits, click on the "New Topic" button on the top right corner of the page to start a new discussion topic

3. Once the new Discussion / Thread page is open, give your proposed thread a suitable Title. Then, you can enter the matter in the text box below.

Reporting a Post that is out of line is a quick way for you to help us maintain the quality of content on this forum. We encourage all members to use this feature whenever they see a Post that is against our guideline / rules.

The "Report to Moderator" link / image is located at the RHS bottom corner of the post. The link / button may be used to report a Post that has:

    * Irrelevant content
    * Poor readability
    * Personal attacks
    * Multiple repetitive content
    * SPAM

When you report a post, a note is automatically made in the Support Forum, which all the moderators can view. Action is taken on a case-to-case basis depending on the content of the post.
